What is FAM?
Fertility Awareness involves the daily observation and tracking of physical biomarkers—primarily basal body temperature (BBT) and cervical mucus, with the optional addition of cervical position—to identify patterns of fertility and infertility throughout the menstrual cycle.
The symptothermal method has been shown in studies to be highly effective—97.6% to 99.6% with perfect use, and 86.8% to 98.2% with typical use.
Fertility Awareness is not the rhythm method. Unlike the rhythm method, which relies on calendar predictions based on past cycles, Fertility Awareness is based on real-time, daily observations of your body’s current signals. This makes it adaptable, personalized, and rooted in your actual physiology—not averages.
About Me
I’ve been a Registered Nurse (BSN) for over 8 years, including 4 years working in women’s reproductive health in abortion care at Planned Parenthood. Alongside my clinical work, I’m a certified yoga teacher with a 200-hour training and 20 hours of additional trauma-informed yoga through TCTSY. As an Holistic Reproductive Health Practitioner, I am educated in the Justisse Fertility Awareness symptothermal method.
For much of my adult life, I relied on hormonal birth control and didn’t have a natural menstrual cycle. I struggled with symptoms of an autoimmune disorder that felt out of my control, and I had no real understanding of my body’s natural rhythms. Learning fertility awareness methods and how to live in tune with my cycle was life-changing . It not only helped me regain control and power over my health, but also gave me important insights into my thyroid function and overall well-being.
I believe reproductive health and fertility are topics that have long been shrouded in shame and silence, and I’m here to change that. This space is 100% shame-free. I am passionate about creating open, honest, and supportive conversations where women can feel empowered to learn about and embrace their bodies without judgment or stigma.
